A Historic Railroad Town

Street Department

The City of Pembroke Street Department is responsible for the maintenance of streets, parks, Northside Cemetery, and city facilities, as well as assisting with the preparation of special events.

There are 30 miles of streets and roads plus sidewalks to be maintained by the Street Department. Each street and road has a right of way that belongs to the City and is maintained by the Street Department. Maintenance within the right of ways consists of street repairs, sidewalk repairs, grass cutting, street sign maintenance and tree maintenance. Storm water drainage is also a vital part of the department to prevent flooding of our streets. This includes maintaining curbs and gutters, drainage ditches, and canals.

The weekly recycling program is managed by this department. We have implemented a numbered garbage can system to monitor inventory. To keep our city clean and beautiful, we will help you dispose of large, bulky items. If you would like to schedule a debris disposal, call City Hall at (912) 653-4413. Cost is $100.00 per load.

The City of Pembroke hosts special events during the year. The Street Department assists with the preparation as it relates to park readiness, garbage pickup, and traffic control.

The Department is also active in larger scale projects such as sidewalk replacement, drainage pipe repairs, the installation of new pipe under roadways, and many different improvements within the City.

The Street Department is driven to exceed our customer’s expectations and to provide solutions that will enhance the environment and the quality of life in the City of Pembroke.
