Mayor's Welcome

Welcome to Pembroke, Georgia! You will find us to be a community rich with history and traditional values. We are a community that considers its people its best attribute.

Growing up in Pembroke, moving away to college and then returning after marriage to raise my own family here, our city holds a precious place in my heart.   My family has a rich heritage as residents of the Bryan, Bulloch, and Liberty County area for over six generations.  Over time, I have witnessed many changes and I know there is yet more to come.

We continue working to ensure that our community is prepared with the proper infrastructure to manage local area growth, with the expansion of our water and sewer system being a top priority.

There are plans to rejuvenate our cultural art scene as well as our historic presence through the renovation of our TOS Theater to become a local center for movie and stage performances, and the renovation of the “Dingle” Building which will house a community center and a local museum of Black History.  Our Downtown Development Authority is also working with Georgia Southern University on a historic walking tour.

Our new corporate neighbors, Hyundai Motor Group Meta Americas, have begun manufacturing both the IONIQ 5 and IONIQ 9 electric vehicles at their plant right here in Bryan County.   Many of our residents in Bryan County have taken advantage of the job opportunities provided by HMGMA and other industries, as well as the new retail stores at the Interstate Centre.

As we look to the future, we are doing so with our history in mind. A substantial portion of our downtown commercial district is on the National Register of Historic Places and one of the focuses of our Downtown Development Authority is to bring goods and services to our community while working to maintain Pembroke’s small-town charm. We may be located within 30 miles of larger cities such as Pooler, Savannah, Statesboro, and Hinesville, but we are committed to bringing in the necessary businesses to the community so that our residents can find all they need right here in their hometown.

The success of our community would not be possible without partnerships with the City of Richmond Hill, Bryan County Board of Commissioners, Bryan County Board of Education, Bryan County Family Connections, Bryan County Senior Center, United Way of the Coastal Empire, and our local churches. By leveraging the resources of these amazing groups and agencies, we are able to provide a community of support for citizens of all ages.

We hope that you will visit Pembroke and experience everything our community has to offer. Our shops, merchants, first responders, and city departments, stand ready to serve you.
